(CLOSED) Packaging Production Manager | New Germany, KZN

Our Client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Packaging Production Manager based in New Germany. This role is ideal for a passionate, detail-oriented self-starter with a proven track record in managing production operations effectively. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills, and a drive to implement process improvements in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Matric and a tertiary qualification in Production Management or related
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a comparable position, with at least 3 years in a team management role
  • Experience in the hardware or retail sector will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of the IQ Retail System is beneficial
  • Strong technical proficiency in packaging production processes, equipment operations and maintenance, quality control, regulatory compliance, and process optimisation

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the Operations Manager to align sales forecasts and production plans
  • Develop and adjust production schedules to meet targets and optimize resources
  • Analyse data and trends to anticipate production needs and improve stock availability
  • Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams for timely material supply
  • Manage lead times to ensure on-time delivery of finished products
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to drive continuous improvement
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate objectives and instructions
  • Ensure all materials, equipment, and resources are prepared and available
  • Monitor key performance indicators and production progress, addressing issues promptly
  • Ensure plant and personnel safety at all times
  • Oversee compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards
  • Identify and resolve deviations or non-conformances
  • Safeguard physical stock and assets
  • Maintain machines and equipment in optimal working order
  • Prepare and manage production, maintenance, and safety reports
  • Maintain statutory, compliance, and production records
  • Accurately log production data and ensure all documents are up to date
  • Select, appoint, and develop team members
  • Provide training, communication, and clear performance targets
  • Foster a supportive and high-performing team environment
