Our Client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Packaging Production Manager based in New Germany. This role is ideal for a passionate, detail-oriented self-starter with a proven track record in managing production operations effectively. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills, and a drive to implement process improvements in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Matric and a tertiary qualification in Production Management or related
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a comparable position, with at least 3 years in a team management role
- Experience in the hardware or retail sector will be advantageous
- Knowledge of the IQ Retail System is beneficial
- Strong technical proficiency in packaging production processes, equipment operations and maintenance, quality control, regulatory compliance, and process optimisation
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the Operations Manager to align sales forecasts and production plans
- Develop and adjust production schedules to meet targets and optimize resources
- Analyse data and trends to anticipate production needs and improve stock availability
- Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams for timely material supply
- Manage lead times to ensure on-time delivery of finished products
- Collaborate with the Quality Department to drive continuous improvement
- Identify and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate objectives and instructions
- Ensure all materials, equipment, and resources are prepared and available
- Monitor key performance indicators and production progress, addressing issues promptly
- Ensure plant and personnel safety at all times
- Oversee compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards
- Identify and resolve deviations or non-conformances
- Safeguard physical stock and assets
- Maintain machines and equipment in optimal working order
- Prepare and manage production, maintenance, and safety reports
- Maintain statutory, compliance, and production records
- Accurately log production data and ensure all documents are up to date
- Select, appoint, and develop team members
- Provide training, communication, and clear performance targets
- Foster a supportive and high-performing team environment
