Live and Work in One of Africa’s Wildest Locations

An exciting opportunity for a resilient, hands-on General Manager to run a remote eco-tourism lodge in Gabon’s Loango National Park.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in off-grid environments, is passionate about conservation and community, and can manage a small team and complex logistics.

Important:
You do not need a background in tourism or guiding to apply. Experience in anti-poaching, conservation, military, or other remote fieldwork is just as valuable. The right personality, mindset, and resilience are more important than a conventional tourism background.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • May be a high-level guide turned manager or someone with solid leadership experience in remote, mission-driven environments.
  • Is resilient, emotionally mature, and thrives in isolated settings with complex interpersonal dynamics.
  • Is practical, hands-on, and solutions-driven.
  • Is driven by purpose — conservation, wild places, and meaningful community engagement.

Minimum Requirements

  • French language ability – spoken and reading
  • Experience working in Central or West Africa (especially Francophone regions)
  • Strong leadership in operations, logistics, and team management
  • Comfortable living and working in isolation
  • Passionate about conservation and community-based work
  • Background in wilderness lodge guiding/management is an advantage — not a must

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all lodge operations
  • Lead and support a team of 12–17 local staff
  • Ensure excellent guest experience across eco-tourism and sportfishing offerings
  • Guide occasionally and maintain guiding standards (if experienced)
  • Manage logistics, procurement, HR, and admin
  • Oversee maintenance of infrastructure (boats, vehicles, solar systems, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and environmental standards
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities and park authorities
