Our client, a reputable organization operating at the intersection of logistics, production, retail, and wholesale sectors, is seeking a dedicated Dispatch and Receiving Manager to oversee their KwaZulu-Natal facilities.
What You’ll Do:
- Plan and supervise all inbound deliveries, including carcasses, primals, packaging, and dry goods, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Verify quantities, grades, temperatures, certificates, and supplier paperwork against purchase orders.
- Reject or quarantine non-conforming stock, raising discrepancies with procurement and suppliers.
- Label, batch, and store products correctly, maintaining cold chain integrity and accurate records for traceability.
- Build daily pick lists and supervise picking, packing, weighing, and loading processes.
- Coordinate delivery schedules, resolve issues with late or incomplete loads, and manage documentation such as delivery notes and proof of delivery.
- Prioritize retail and production needs, manage stock counts, and investigate shrinkage, short-dates, and temperature excursions.
- Work closely with production on yield and movement of by-products to optimise resources.
- Enforce FIFO/FEFO, monitor equipment like fridges and freezers, and escalate failures promptly.
- Apply HACCP standards, support audits, and ensure compliance with legal labelling and allergen regulations.
- Lead and motivate receiving and dispatch staff, manage rosters, train, and evaluate performance.
- Liaise with stakeholders across retail, production, sales, procurement, and accounts to ensure smooth operations.
- Continuously improve layouts, SOPs, and KPIs such as on-time dispatch and stock accuracy.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics, preferably within the food industry.
- Strong understanding of temperature control, FIFO/FEFO, and food safety principles.
- Proficient with purchase orders, delivery notes, stock systems, and basic Excel/ERP skills.
- Proven leadership skills in managing small teams in a fast-paced, physical environment.
- Excellent numeracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with inventory management, ERP systems, and stock control.
