Buyer – Cato Ridge, KZN

A manufacturing company is looking for an energetic, experienced Buyer to add value to the Procurement Department, in the purchase of goods, materials and services, to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply at all times. Based in Cato Ridge.

Minimum Qualifications:

• CIPS Qualification or BCOM Supply Chain & Procurement
• Minimum 5–10-years’ experience in a similar or related environment
• Syspro: advanced working knowledge – Essential
• Food Safety knowledge: FSSC 22000 or ISO 20 000 experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office – Excel advanced
• Understanding and speaking of Afrikaans – Essential
• Experience with international sourcing / import documentation
• Experience with buying in bulk
• Comfortable working in a fast paced and challenging environment
• Willing to work occasional weekends and evenings
• Unendorsed driver’s license and own car

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring supplier products quality meet health and safety standards
• Planning and analysing supplier lead times
• Planning and forecasting to avoid raw material shortages
• Stock takes to ensure quality and expiry dates are not compromised
• Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills to effectively engage with suppliers, securing favourable terms and agreements for the company
• Compiling accurate information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials
• Reviewing requisitions / purchase orders and developing specifications of non-complex items
• Solicit written and telephonic quotations
• Expediting deliveries. During working hours and after hours
• Maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and all levels in the internal supply chain
• Successful onboarding of new suppliers
• Reviewing current and old suppliers
• Conflict Resolution Skills – manage realistic deadlines expectations
