The purpose of the New Business Development position is to grow the group’s retail footprint by facilitating entry of new stores into the brand and finding new business. Finding and launching of existing stores and the development of new stores while driving the brand regionally. The incumbent must develop and execute growth strategies and plans. Additionally, this role is responsible for building and leading a high-performance team who are motivated to achieve sustainable top line sales. An integral part of this role is to also build collaborative, strategic working partnerships with Retail Operations colleagues and Retailers.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Business Administration, Legal or Building Science
- A minimum 5 years’ experience in the real estate sector, preferably retail environment
- At least 5 years’ experience negotiating and concluding lease agreements
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of local property and retail development market
- Demonstrated ability to meet growth targets and create effective business networks in the property sector
- Firm understanding of financial statements particularly cash flow statements and financing options
- Demonstrated knowledge of real estate practices and finances with the ability to assess property viability
- Ability to undertake and interpret financial feasibility studies.
- Excellent negotiator with proven lease negotiation skills and business acumen
- Thorough knowledge of leasing and contracts.
- Ability to interpret demographic data.
- Ability to build strong business relationships with key stakeholders.

- Command of Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to produce commercial analysis, reports and presentations

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the group has a strong presence in the property development industry
- Evaluation of prospective sites for the group on a Macro and Micro level
- Contributes to annual regional business planning for sales growth targets
- Reports progress to Real Estate Head and Regional DC Executives
- Collaborates with Retail Operations and internal stakeholders on site and space growth
- Manages retailer relationships and provides real estate support
- Evaluates key real estate and governance processes for effective decision-making
- Presentation and reporting of selected sites and progress to Regional Committee for Build it Membership approval
- Finalisation of lease agreements and securing of selected sites for development
- Interview and evaluation of prospective retailers
- Preparation of documentation for new head lease agreements
- Oversight of facilitation of Sale of existing stores
- Submits contingency plans for strategy shortfalls
- Develops a 36-month strategy for new site establishment, aligned with regional strategies
- Creates a long-term growth plan supporting regional goals by format and brand
- Contributes to annual regional business planning for sales growth targets
