Location: South Africa (with extensive travel across Southern Africa)
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic National Sales Manager (Maize) to lead our clients expansion into FMCG retail chains across South Africa and Southern Africa. The successful candidate will drive product listings and sales of our maize-based product range, including Maize Meal, Samp, White Grain, Hominy Chop, White Grits, and Super Maize Meal, into major retailers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Agriculture, or a related field
- Minimum 5-7 years in a senior sales role within commodities or FMCG retail
- Proven experience in commodity trading, preferably in agri-products or maize-related commodities
- Strong background in FMCG sales, particularly within retail chains
- Excellent network of contacts within the retail and wholesale FMCG sectors
- Demonstrated ability to manage remote teams and achieve national sales objectives
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the region
- Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- Based in JHB, DBN, FS
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and grow relationships with FMCG retail buyers across the region
- Secure listings and expand product availability in national and regional retail chains
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of 9 sales agents operating across South and Southern Africa
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed targets
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and competitor activity
- Regular travel (up to 70%) to meet clients, support the sales team, and explore new opportunities
*** You can be based anywhere in SA however you will be required to travel extensively. Living nearby to an airport would be most ideal.
